HOPDODDY DALLAS BURGER REVIEW

Updated: May 18, 2021

Looking for a great burger in Dallas? What if I told you there was an amazing burger joint right in the heart of uptown that offered.... wait for it.... FREE PARKING!?!? I probably shouldn't have lead with all that amazing info, you might not even stick around to read my post. Hopefully I still have your attention and you haven't jumped in the car yet.

I visited the perfectly shaded patio this weekend at Hopdoddy in Uptown on McKinney ave. Although it was hovering around the 83 degree mark, the patio was totally shaded and the light breeze that moseyed its way on through put me in the mood for a big juicy burger coated with cheese running down the sides and a big ole mess of fries.

Actually, come to think of it, it MIGHT have been the fact that I was up at 7am and had only eaten a breakfast bar all day and my stomach was yelling profanity at me.

Or the breeze, it might have been the breeze.

Not sure, not important.

This was my first trip to Hopdoddy and as I was trying to decide between 5 different burgers, they made it easy on me and told me they'd send out their favorites to the table. I always love not having to make the tough decisions. Send me your favorites and I'll be a happy camper.

Hopdoddy offers a full bar, and since it was Memorial Day and we had no plans of being productive in the least that day, we started with two cocktails!

The red cocktail is their Sangrita made with gold tequila, fresh squeezed orange and lime juice, pomegranate grenadine, served on the rocks with a chile salt rim.

The other, the Doble Fina Margarita, is made with silver tequila, freshly squeezed lime juice, house-infused triple sec and sweet agave.

For our meal, we shared a few things.

Thing 1: Goodnight Good Cause Burger

Notes on Thing 1: This is an excellent choice for your burger because $1 is donated to Make a Wish North Texas. It's an angus beef burger with Tillamook cheddar, caramelized onions, sliced jalapeno, hickory BBQ sauce, sassy sauce, red leaf lettuce and beefsteak tomato. The beefsteak tomato and caramelized onions played so well together, this was a solid burger choice!

Thing 2: Llano Poblano Burger (my fav!)

Notes on Thing 2: Again, an angus beef burger topped with apple-smoked bacon, Tilamook pepper jack, seared poblanos, chipotle mayo, red leaf lettuce, white onion and some more of that juicy beefsteak tomato. I can be kind of basic (read: boring) when choosing a burger, but I surprised myself by loving this one. All the accouterments added so many layers of flavor, and since I'm a wimp when it comes to a lot of spice, the mild poblano was a perfect flavor for me! HIGHLY recommend.

Thing 3: The Parmesan Truffle Fries

Notes on Thing 3: GET THESE OR YOU ARE DUMBBBBBBBB. They come with a truffle aioli and I briefly considered bathing in said aioli.

*Editors note on thing 3: It's been 3 days and still haven't ruled out the aioli bath.

Pls reserve judgement, thx, mgt.

Be sure to check out Hopdoddy, right across from Bread Winners and Del Friscos in Uptown! Or at one of their 3 DFW locations.

Like I said, free parking and a shady patio, you have no excuse not to!
