The State Fair of Texas is back and bigger than ever in 2022. Also returning are the myriad ways you stand to save a few bucks on your first visit or your next visit to Dallas' biggest fall kickoff event. From savings on your entry ticket to hacks for saving on food and experiences inside the fair, use this list to keep up with all the ways to pinch those pennies and make your dollar go a little further at the State Fair of Texas.


Know you're hitting the fair on a weekday? Make sure to snag an adult one-day admission ticket for only $15, and tickets for the kiddos and seniors are only $10! This deal is only valid for pre-selected dates, so make sure before you go!


If you just can't get enough of the Fair, this is your best bet for saving some extra cash this season! Don't limit your fair experience to just one day or weekend — get a season pass to unlock 24-days of admission and some ~special VIP benefits~!

3. bring THE whole crew to unlock A GROUP RATE

Whether you're looking for an after-work event with coworkers, have extended family in town or a group of at least 25 people, then you can qualify for a discounted group rate as low as $13 per ticket and save up to 55% off admission tickets!

4. sign up for email discounts from the fair

When you sign up to be a Big Tex insider, you'll get the latest ticket discounts emailed to you, including super-exclusive savings on tickets released each week of the Fair. Insiders also receive first access to pre-sales, discounted merchandise from the Big Tex store and a special message from Big Tex on your birthday!

5. buy in advance AT KROGER

If you're planning your trip to the Fair in advance, buy your entry tickets at Kroger and receive $3 off premium one-day admission tickets or $5 off your season passes. This deal went ento effect on September 1 and is available through October 23.


Head to a participating North Texas McDonalds location throughout fair season and you'll find fair coupons on your tray liners or inside your meal bag! You could find coupons good for $5 off weekday admission and $7 off weekend entry!

7. MILITARY appreciation DISCOUNTS

Any and all active military, retired military and veterans save $5 on weekdays and $7 on weekends! Just make sure to bring documentation when purchasing your tickets. Military spouses and children also will receive the same discounted admission!


First responders, make sure to bring your badge or ID card when purchasing tickets to receive $5 off weekday admission and $7 off weekend admission. And as an added bonus for your service to the community, up to 3 family members also get a discounted ticket!


Save a few bucks when you hit the fair on a weekday after 5 p.m. You will receive a child's price for your ticket — no matter your age! This deal is available at the entry gates AND online.

10. tuesdays and thursdays are value days

Dr. Pepper value days are every Tuesday and Thursday, when you can get an admission ticket for ONLY $10! You have to be a Big Tex Insider to get this discount so make sure to sign up here.

11. donate and save on opening day

Bring two jars of peanut butter to donate to the North Texas Food Bank for a special Opening Day promotional price of $10 admission at the gate. Please note: this discount is only available at Fair entry gates in person, and is only good on Opening Day, Friday, September 30.

12. donate and save every wednesday, too!

Save big AND give back to the community with North Texas Food Bank’s Feed the Need Wednesdays. By bringing five canned food items, fairgoers will get into the Fair for just $5. All canned food donations go to the North Texas Food Bank, which helps feed members of the community.


Thursday is the day for Senior Discounts, and a great day for the family to go to the Fair. Make sure to stop by on Thursdays when seniors get into the Fair for only $5!

14. ask your kiddos

Did you know some kiddos will get free admission tickets from school? Make sure to double check their backpacks if you have kiddos at home, or ask a friend who may not be using the free tickets their kids bring home!

15. TAKE THE DART or tre

Tired: paying $20 or more to park at the fair. Wired: Taking the DART or the TRE from Tarrant County! You can get off at either the Fair Park Station or the MLK Jr. Station for easy Fair access. Many of the DART stops offer a park-and-ride option, so pick a stop on the green line and then hop the train the rest of the way! Easy-peasy lemon-squeezy.

16. save on food & drink on thrifty thursdays

During Thrifty Thursdays, select vendors have their signature menu items at a reduced price so you can enjoy all the fabulous food the fair has to offer, even if you're ballin' on a budget!
