As someone who waited tables for nearly ten years through high school, college and even after college, certain employee actions tip me off on if I'm going to like a restaurant or not. For example, I'm a firm believer if someone works at a restaurant and LOVES eating there too, then you're more than likely going to love it.
I had the pleasure of visiting Super Chix in Dallas a couple of weeks ago and the first thing that jumped out at me was just how obsessed ALL of the employees were with the menu. The gentleman who greeted us gushed with excitement when I told him I'd never been there before.
In a nutshell, this was our convo:
Me: "Hey there! Never been here but heard great things. What would you recommend?"
Him: "We are known for our fried chicken, so you've gotta get the chicken tenders. You can't leave without the chicken tenders! And the sauces, you need one of each sauce!!!! Alabama white sauce, cucumber dill ranch, Mississippi Come Back you need to try each one! And our new sandwiches you've gotta try those too. CRISPY AVOCADO! You MUST HAVE our new crispy avocado!!!"
I'm of course paraphrasing. There was a lot more detail. By the end of us ordering I felt like we had a new bestie! A new bestie who was in no way shape or form going to allow us to get in our car and drive away until we also sampled every flavor of custard that was available to us.
Good new friend to have, right?
See what I mean, if the employees love eating there, you're going to love eating there.
Simple as that.
Oh, and did I mention we took him up on his offer and tried everything he suggested?!?
Don't mind the two grown adults having an April Thanksgiving FEAST on the patio outside!
You thought I was joking.
*AND*
This was before another Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich magically snuck its way on to our picnic table.
*AND*
Before any custard!!!
Shown above are their hand-cut rosemary black pepper fries, and in the background, their all new Crispy Avocado Sandwich with garlic mayo, gouda, lettuce and tomato.
YES-- that GIANT topper is all crispy avocado.
I also added fried chicken to that sandwich because life is just so short, ya know?

Oh, and Ketchup because why not.
I was told by multiple friends that I would be immediately sent to jail, do not pass go, do not collect $200 if I didn't pick up an order of the fried pickles. I didn't want to chance getting caught without fried pickles by a cop, so we ordered some of those too.
Oh shoot girl, they were dang good.
Then there was the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich that found it's way on our table.

That look you make when you're plotting your attack.......
CUSTARD TIME!
I had their INSANE strawberry shortcake, the flavor of the week, topped with loads of sprinkles.
My fiancé went to town on the oreo cold fusion!
You guys have to check out Super Chix and GO HUNGRY.
DON'T FORGET THE SAUCES! AND THE CUSTARD! AND THE FRIED PICKLES!
GAH, JUST GET IT ALLLLLLLLL!
