INSÓLITO SPICY JALAPENO MARGARITA RECIPE

Updated: May 18, 2021

Cinco de Mayo just so happens to land on Taco Tuesday, coincidence - I think not! Just because we can't go out for MASSIVE patio parties like years past, doesn't mean you shouldn't get crafty with your margaritas and toast from your own patio! Today, I bring you the best Spicy Jalapeño Margarita Recipe to celebrate Cinco De Mayo in Dallas.

I don't know what has gotten into me being SO obsessed with margaritas, but ever since the lockdown started, all I want to drink is margaritas. Heck, I did an entire blog post about 40 restaurants in Dallas to get to go margaritas. I've mostly been making skinny margaritas (necessity with the number of margs I've been drinking), but today I thought I'd try my hand at a spicy margarita.

I'm using a new tequila to Dallas, INSÓLITO. Not only is it new to Dallas, but it is sold EXCLUSIVELY in Texas. This super-premium tequila brand is produced in partnership with one of my favorite country bands, Texas based, Midland. I don't know about you, but I got no problem drinking at all! I loved seeing Midland perform at the NHL Winter Classic back on January 1st, they were awesome live.

INSÓLITO translates to uncommon or extraordinary, and we obviously are knee deep in some uncommon and unprecedented times. Why not embrace the Cinco de Mayo party this year and go all out by treating yourself to a new tequila? Let's be real, not like you have anything to do on May 6th 🤷🏻‍♀️

You can SHOP INSÓLITO HERE.

Ok, let's get down to the good stuff, how do you make it?

First you need a bottle of INSÓLITO Reposado tequila. Find it 👉 HERE.

SPICY JALAPEÑO MARGARITA RECIPE

INGREDIENTS

✨2 oz INSÓLITO Reposado Tequila

💥1 oz Jalapeño Simple Syrup (recipe below)

✨1 oz fresh squeezed lime juice

💥Chili Powder

✨Salt

💥Fresh Jalapeños and Limes for garnish

DIRECTIONS

Make the Jalapeño Simple Syrup ahead of time. Combine equal parts sugar and water, and boil until sugar is dissolved. Add 4-6 sliced jalapeños and steep about 20 minutes. Strain into a jar and discard jalapeños. Store in fridge for when you're ready to cocktail!

Combine chili powder and salt together on a plate. Take a lime wedge, make a small cut through the middle and coat around the rim of your cocktail glass. Dip the rim of your glass in chili powder + salt mixture.

Shake tequila, simple syrup and lime juice with ice. Don't over think this, I legit use a protein shaker for ALL of my cocktails at home. No shame in my game 😉 Strain into your marg glass over ice (I used a big rock) and garnish with sliced jalapeño on the side of the glass + a lime wheel!

Happy Cinco de Mayo my friends, stay safe 🍹 but stay hydrated 🕺🏻
